The show always shines a spotlight on songwriting\, whether it’s freshly minted songs by local songwriters\, or favorite covers. \nMusical guests include fan favorites from the Charlotte and North Carolina music community\, as well as touring bands and artists. \nEach Sam on Someday is a unique\, one-time-only event that is not to be missed. It’s a genre-busting experience where a rapper\, a banjo player\, a folk singer\, a violinist and a blues guitarist might share the stage and create something completely new together. \nThe project started as a weekly livestream every Sunday during the pandemic but has since grown and flourished as live events at some of Charlotte’s great music venues. Now it can show up anywhere and anytime\, so “Sam on Sunday” has become “Sam on Someday.” \nBut one thing hasn’t changed: Sam on Someday is still a way to reconnect with live music and with friends in an intimate setting. Along with releasing seven albums and five EPs since 2005\, she’s a frequent collaborator with contemporaries such as Sufjan Stevens\, Norah Jones and composer Nico Muhly. She has appeared with the Boston Pops\, the NYC Ballet and on the TED main stage. Her musical ROW about fellow Kentucky native Tori Murden McClure’s quest to become the first woman to row across the Atlantic Ocean premiered in 2021 at Williamstown Theatre Festival and is available on Audible. Her latest release is The Liberated Woman’s Songbook\, an album of folk songs that leads us through a history of women’s activism from the 1800’s through the high times of Women’s Lib in the 1970’s. DESCRIPTION:Doors: 8pm | Show: 9pm\nTickets: $15 At the door\n• 21+ \nMe Like Bees\nFormed on the heels of the 2000s indie rock scene\, Missouri-based indie rock band\, Me Like Bees\, was created by college dropout\, Pete Burton and former gas station clerk\, Luke Sheafer in 2009. The pair met while playing high school football together in Kansas; only to lose touch and serendipitously end up at the same college town in southwest Missouri several years later. The duo shared a mutual affinity for the music of the aughts. Bands like The Strokes\, Modest Mouse\, The White Stripes\, and Franz Ferdinand\, would serve as the catalyst to the danceable\, guitar- driven rock that Me Like Bees would become known for\, all of which are ever-present on their newly released sophomore full-length album — Disco Two Step. \nNotably\, the band released their first full-length album\, The Ides\, via Loveway Records in 2013. In 2014\, they won first prize at the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands in Hollywood\, CA — beating out 20\,000 other artists\, and securing a coveted spot on the Vans Warped Tour. With their undeniable trajectory of growth\, the group knew the next step was to make more music. They got the chance to work alongside Goldfinger frontman and well- known producer\, John Feldmann for the There Will Be Time EP (2016)\, and they didn’t stop there.
